About Me

That’s me, Summer.  In that pic, I’m enjoying an amazing meal at Cal Pep in Barcelona.  (The guy to the right of me is my husband, Ray…)

From a very young age I’ve loved anything and everything that has to do with food and cooking.  My dad’s mother was a big influence on me – she was a great cook and always encouraged me to eat more more MORE since she always found me to be a little too skinny – ha!  At six years old, after declaring I wanted to be a rug installer (seriously!) I decided what I really wanted to do with my life was be a chef.  And let me tell you, I could make a mean batch of air-popped popcorn (extra butter and salt – naturally!) and some pretty unique sandwiches in the sandwich maker during those early years.

Even though I ended up working in advertising, my love for food has never wavered, so although I don’t have a lot of time to cook during the week, I take every opportunity I can to whip up something yummy for me and Ray.  We live in beautiful Brookline, MA a half mile from Fenway Park, so when I’m not cooking, we’re very lucky to have lots of lovely restaurants to enjoy all within a very short distance from our apartment.

Ultimately, I started this blog because food and wine are always on my mind – as anyone who knows me can attest – and they are also what bring me a tremendous amount of joy.  Especially when I’m able to share my creations with friends and family.  Because really, that’s what food is about.  Creating something beautiful (and hopefully delicious!),  showing your love, and bringing people together.  Through this site, I hope I can capture some memories that otherwise would be forgotten about, and share my passion for food with any and all who are interested!

Happy eating!

  5. So i’m bored at work, and i stumble across this recipe for a strawberry/rhubarb crumble…..and i instantly taken back to a kid running out to my aunts rhubarb plants with a cup full of sugar, and “CRUNCH” a taste that you can’t describe!! I laughed when i read your story which is much like mine when it comes to Rhubarb. Who is this person with this great recipe……much to my surprise, it’s my old neighbor and former coworker. I can’t wait to try this recipe. I hope all is well with you my old friend.

  6. It sure is, of all the recipes on the web, i stumble across yours. Life, has been a roller coaster ride, much like everbodys. Long story short, I have 2 beautiful daughters (9 and 12), ended up back in Gardner to raise the girls. They keep me busy, with school, and sports. So with them, work and my new venture, fostering dogs for a rescue league, id say i’m busy, and staying out of trouble. how bout you?
